Role Description The Forensic Interviewer is a full-time, on-site role based in Portland, TX. This position conducts developmentally appropriate, legally sound, and trauma-informed forensic interviews of children and youth who may have experienced abuse or witnessed violent crimes.

Qualifications

• Strong interviewing, active listening, and observational skills, with the ability to engage children and youth in a developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed manner.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary partners, including law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors, medical professionals, and mental health providers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including accurate documentation, report writing, and clear case presentation in meetings or court settings.
• Knowledge of child development, child abuse dynamics, and trauma-informed practices, or willingness to obtain specialized training in these areas.
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical judgment, with strict adherence to confidentiality and organizational policies.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and maintain detailed records.
• Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, counseling, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Prior experience working with children affected by trauma, abuse, or neglect, or in a forensic, advocacy, or investigative setting is preferred.
• Commitment to the mission of the Childrens Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend and to providing non-discriminatory, culturally responsive services to diverse communities.
